Hair-pulling tics

Hair-pulling can be a simple holding of the hair, to violent, forceful tugs. Whether pulling our own hair or someone else’s, this can lead to hair loss and extreme pain.

The term Trichotillomania- according to nhs.uk– is ‘when someone cannot resist the urge to pull out their hair‘.

Is this the same as a tic disorder?

The NIH: National Library of Medicine, published the article– ‘Trichotillomania is more related to Tourette disorder than to obsessive-compulsive disorder‘ (1)… not that this answers the question directly, but has us heading in that direction.
