Tonic tics involve a tightening of a muscle group without causing movement, or only small, barely noticeable movements.

Did you know? A 2021 study found that “In more than half of the patients, tensing of the abdomen, neck, and upper limbs was found. Less frequently, patients reported tensing the lower limbs, whole body, and buttocks”. It was also found that “patients with TTs have a greater total number of tics which are more severe, and they have more comorbidities.”
